Scholarship Opportunities

Grant C. Alexander Scholarship Foundation makes two (2) $1,000 awards to academically worthy and financially eligible students attending a non-propriety college full-time who have overcame a hardship and has written an essay either explaining their career/life goals or their hardship.

 

Omega Psi Phi Fraternity awards scholarship monies to African-American Male students.  Criteria: 2.5 GPA, Community Involvement,  2010 high school graduate, financial need.  Guidance Office has applications.  Deadline is April 30, 2010.  


William K. Schubert Minority Nursing Scholarship Program offered by Cincinnati Children’s Hospital awards monies to assist with tuition and fees for individuals accepted fro enrollment as full-time or part-time students in professional registered nurse programs.  Students should be a member of one of the underrepresented minority groups in the registered nursing profession.

University of Kentucky-Phi Kappa Psi is offering a scholarship for incoming male freshmen who will be attending the University of Kentucky in the fall. Deadline is May 31, 2010. 


National Society of High school Scholars Foundation will offer ten (10) $1000 scholarships to high school seniors interested in pursuing a career in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM).  Must be U.S. citizen, have a 3.5 GPA and must have true commitment to the pursuit of a STEM college track.  Guidance has application.  Deadline is March 1, 2010. 

 

Delta Tau Delta Fraternity is offering three (3) $1000 scholarships to students who excel  in the areas of leadership, athletics and community service.   By applying for this scholarship students are not committing to future membership in Delta Tau Delta.

National Society of High School Scholars Foundation recognizes the need to produce more graduates with the knowledge and skills in the Science, Technology, Engineering and Math

University of Akron’s Choose Ohio First Scholarship provides scholarships to incoming freshmen who intend to pursue a degree in a science, technology, engineering or mathematics (STEM) field.  Scholarships range from $1,500 to $4,700 per academic year and are renewable for the 2011-2012 academic year.

Must be a U.S. citizen, Ohio resident and incoming freshman for the 2010-2011 academic year and plan to pursue a Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field.

Imodules Scholarship  working with imodules has opened the door for a new program that they are sponsoring.  The scholarships are $1000-$2500.

Qualifications:

  1. Full-time student
  2. Will be attending a school that is an iModules client
  3. A minimum C grade point average

Step 1: Application

Once you’ve created your account, you will fill out a simple application form with your contact and school information.  You will be asked to share your education goals  (in 100 words or less).

Step 2: Essay

Must submit a 1000 word essay to one of the following:

  1. A challenge in your life and how you have over come it
  2. How has technology played a role in your life? How will it play a role in your future?
  3. A community or group you’re involved with---how have you made an impact within that group or how has it impacted you?

Cincinnati Chapter of the Ohio Credit Union League Scholarship Program will award nine (9) $1000 scholarships and five (5) $2500.  To Qualify, applicant must be a senior in high school and plan to participate in post-secondary studies, including professional, vocational and academic studies that are not limited to colleges and universities.  Must also be a member of a credit union in one of the following Ohio counties: Hamilton, Adams, Clermont or brown.  Guidance has applications or you may apply on line at www.cincychapterocul.org .

University of Cincinnati offers the Cincinnatus XIV Scholarships.  To be eligible,   students must complete admission application at www.admissions.uc.edu  and request information so that they may be considered for a Cincinnatus, request official high school transcripts, and request official test scores from testing agency.  Application, transcript and test scores must be received no later than December 1, 2009.

Miami University offers Bridges: A Program of Excellence.  This is an all expense paid (housing and meals) selective overnight visit program for academically ambitious high school seniors from Ohio.   Students who successfully complete the Bridges program and apply for admission to Miami for Fall 2010 will receive a $50 admission application fee waiver.  Successful participants will also receive a $4000 four-year renewable scholarship.  Visit www.muohio.edu/bridges for information and application.
